Last night Kendrick Lamar dropped his second song in less than a week called “HUMBLE” immediately giving me the worst (and best) case of stank face in years. It features a ferocious beat reminiscent of 2001 Dre mixed with Watch the Throne-era Kanye and a simpler, more direct delivery from the BEST-RAPPER-ALIVE. The music video that accompanies it, however, is the main reason I love this so much. It is the best production I’ve seen in years. From the cinematography and motion-controlled shots to the Young Pope theme and digital effects. Just watch it.
(Shouts all lefties, too. “My left stroke just went VIRALLL.”)
I also love the massive flex by K.dot to release two songs five days after Drake drops a 90-minute “playlist” and steal some of his thunder. The Heart Part 4 might be my favorite song of the year thus far. Only a week until he releases his new project, too. Look out!
Today is Friday and you know what that means. As you might expect, this playlist is a little Drake-heavy with the release of More Life a couple weeks ago. New Gorillaz, Lupe Fiasco, and a Future Hendrix in there as well.
A couple weeks ago I did a Notorious BIG-centric roundup. Check that out for some nostalgia.
